REDDING, CA - Turtle Bay Exploration Park is proud to announce the nomination for McConnell Arboretum & Botanical Gardens in USA Today's 10 Best Botanical Gardens.
A treasured Redding feature, the McConnell Arboretum & Botanical Gardens offers picturesque views of diverse flora. With walking trails open to all, this site is a valued resource in the community for walking four-legged friends and spending time with loved ones. Now, we are honored to be in the running for a Top 10 Best Botanical Gardens in the nation through USA Today.
Located on the north side of Turtle Bay Exploration Park, the botanical gardens are an excellent example of Turtle Bay's Mission "to inspire wonder, exploration, and appreciation of our world" through cultivating biodiversity onsite. The gardens are home to not only native Californian plants but also several other diverse species, including ornamental grasses, climate-appropriate plant varieties, and tree species.
Along with the 25 acres of climate-appropriate display gardens, the property offers weekly events and educational courses to further the community's ability to contribute to the stewardship of our land. Guests can participate in learning about drought-tolerant gardening techniques, irrigation methods, and much more.
The McConnell Botanical Gardens comprise 25 acres of Mediterranean-climate display gardens, a children’s garden, a medicinal garden, two beautiful and unique water features, and a large seasonal pond, home to local fauna.
We are so proud of the botanical gardens’ contribution to community enrichment and the sustainability of our local ecosystem. This nomination is an honor to highlight the important work our horticulture staff does year-round.
Lindsay Myers, CEO Turtle Bay Exploration Park.
